AIM Screenames have been changed to protect the innocent.

Interviewed by: Tony Bianchi

Tony: what's your name and where did you go to high school
Chris: Chris Marciniak
Chris: Keyport High school -- "Lockport"

Tony: I hear they call it "Lockport" because it's sorta like a prison. A reverse prison in your case.
Tony: never mind that
Tony: That's close to Sandy hook and Monmouth beach correct?

Chris: 15 min. away from the best skim spots in NJ.
Tony: It shows in the picture sets on Njskim.com. Epic liners better than most places I've ever seen when it comes to liners. Anyway, how did you get into skimming and what's the biggest attraction to it for you.
Tony: Also how do you know for sure that you live near the "best skim spots in NJ"? Where have you gone otherwise?

Chris: I got into skimming, because I was at Seagull's nest, which is a beach away from "The Cove" and I was walking the beaches, happened to run into the cove, saw guys surfing, and one kid skimming, I was like wow, that's sick, and from then on bought a surfboard , about a year later got a skimboard. Which was a zap wedge. That was 2 summers ago. -- My attraction to skimboarding is that no matter what's on my mind I can go out and have a good skim sesh, even if I say I'm hating it. and that I can get 10 waves skimming, as opposed to sitting in the line up at a fairly aggressive surf break and getting 1 wave every 15 or so min.
Chris: I'm not positive that they're the best skim spots in NJ, I happen to just think that cuz the places I have traveled aren't as good, not saying they're bad, just don't have what No. Jersey breaks have. and it seems to be a little more consistent here.

Tony: That's seems to be the main attraction of most skimmers. do you think you will have as good as a time if you didn't live near such a long liner, and lived in the flats of, sorry to say, PCB?
Chris: yes, id enjoy it just as much, its just a + that I am fortunate to be able to live so close to such a good break.
Tony: Your name is starting to appear all over the place. On different WebPages, in people's conversation on our message board, and at contests your name "Marcikiak" gets dropped all the time. I guess I'm asking How good are you doing, what is your outlook, and where did Marcikiack come from?
Tony: wait let me rephrase that question what is your outlook..... What are your hopes of the future of your skimboarding, not skimming in general but your personal endeavors?

Chris: do you mean "Mar-Sicky-ak? haha , my name is getting out there, and to tell you the truth it all happened so quick, all I remember is that, Pickle approached me in NJ said something about buying his old board for 60$ and is as interested in it, and him and j-dub said don't worry you'll be getting them free soon. I didn't know what to say beside...sicky! And then that Sunday Wilson asked me to ride for zap, and Greg at skimcity asked me to ride for him, I was stoked out of my mind. Didn't know what to do/think, beside say "AWE F**K YEAH". And now so many good things keep happening to me. -- My outlook is just to skim, have fun, go as far as possible with skimboarding, but not to gain an ego and just be who I am all the time. -- Mar Sicky ak came from the stereotype of NJ being represented with "Sicky" and BC yelled "that's Chris Mar Sicky ak running for that wave" while MC'ing for the NJ contest, so that's where it started and stuck.
Tony: I've heard rumor that you're the next big thing. But I personally, since I know you better than some, think there is some things behind that notion which people don't really get to see the way you see it. Are you gonna go Pro?... We know you can.
Chris: I don't know about the next big thing, but I am gaining public attention. I'm not even thinking about turning pro, until I can skim at a pro level, meaning when I enter my first contest pro, I wanna make it to the final that contest. Kinda like starting off with a bang. Plus this was my first contest season being an AM. Anyone can turn pro. But whether they're effective being pro is a diff. story. I feel when you think you can out skim the top 10 pros, its time to enter pro. To me, "Pro" is just a label, it all depends on the skill level your on.
Tony: You're modest and humble. ...... So what do you do personally before contests? Do you relax and stretch or do you grub down on pork roll and Pepsi? Do you drink or smoke? Be honest please. I think it shows more out of a person when they can perform under pressure in ALL aspects of life. Physical and mental. I'm sure most people feel the same way.
Chris: I don't do anything mentally or physically to prepare myself for a contest. I just skim as if I were free skimming, and hang out and enjoy my surroundings. mm pork roll and cheese, now if I got to grub down on some of that before a heat id feel like superman, but no just drink some Pepsi hang out and have fun. I do drink, but do not smoke, I know it's hard to believe, no one ever believes me, but I don't not smoke anything. And I drink at parties or "gatherings." I like being under pressure. It gives me drive...motivation...a feel that I have to accomplish something.
Tony: What's your best performed trick? What's your favorite trick? Any accomplishments to be had or that you've done already?
Chris: best performed trick: probably some sort of aerial maneuver.
Chris: favorite trick: kick flip, f/s big spin going b/s down the line

Tony: Kick flips are for fags or pussies..... What's your response to this?
Tony: or meant to be done on skateboards....

Chris: some things I accomplished to be had are: Graduating h/s, Doing well on the East Coast Tour, and smelting an axe wound.
Chris: I'm a fag, and or pussy.
Chris: and big spins are also meant for skateboarding what do u say to that? And shuv it's , and everything else.
Chris: I'm just trying to be an innovator, and bring the sport to a new level.

Tony: I think you're a fag and or a pussy also........... So who do you honor or respect in the skim world? Who do you like look up to you, etc?
Chris: I honor and respect Woj, Tony, and my parents the most. kinda like a Day 1 thing. and don't really look up to many people... but if I had to choose one person I would have to say: Mike Morrissey. I've said that before I knew what skimming was. I always feel like a small mirror image of him, even though I'll never live up to him) it's just the whole skate, surf, snow, skim vibe. I like it.
Tony: Alright. Lets here some quick basics. What type of music you like, where's your favorite spot to skim, how old are you, what's your favorite skim movie, your favorite alcoholic drink, what's your favorite position during smelting, what does GDR and YDB mean, what's your favorite food, color, animal, what's your best wave you've had, who do you skim with,...um...... anything else that may be your favorite?

"Magic Carpet Ride" its classic. -- I love me some Mickey's (40oz) -- Smelting...haha, no fav. Just love them all.
